Sophie Huber

Sophie Huber is the Director of the Centre for Continuing and Distance Education since June 2015. In this capacity, she develops, together with the Rectorate of the University of Geneva (UNIGE), the strategy for the development of continuing education, in close coordination with the faculties and inter-faculty centres of the University, and local stakeholders. She’s been pionneering micro-credentials in Switzerland and at UNIGE since 2022. UNIGE is now offering a wealth of micro-credentials in its continuing education portfolio.

Before joining the University of Geneva, Sophie was Deputy Director of the Department of Continuing Executive Education at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), where she also directed the DAS in International Negotiation and Policy Making. A historian by training, Sophie has been teaching in continuing education programmes since 2002 and has worked with many actors of International Geneva, as well as professionals from North Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Caucasus.

Sophie defended her PhD thesis in International History and Politics at IHEID in 2008. She is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies of the University of Strasbourg, where she is originally from.
